Governor Wentworth Regional School District

This link brings you to the GWRSD website. Here you will find remote learning information and standards for each school in the district. They have also provided extensive remote learning resources, including Khan Academy, National Geographic for Kids, Nasa, Scholastic & PBS Kids.

New Hampshire Home Education Regulations

This state government website offers the home education RSAs (Revised Statutes Annotated) for the state of NH. The site also provides information about each educational pathway available to New Hampshire students. This includes school district information, charter schools, private schools, home education and special education options.


Special Needs Resources

Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities

This website offers support and resources for people with developmental disabilities. The Sherlock Center has a special focus on preparing young people for the transition to adult life. Adaptive lessons which allow disabled students to participate in the general class curriculum are available and may be sorted by author or grade level.

Disability Rights Center
of New Hampshire

 This organization aids in procuring assistive technologies. They also provide legal advocacy for the disabled, information on service animals, accessibility and accommodation. The DRC-NH helps with issues such as housing, employment rights and healthcare.

Perkins School
for the Blind

Visitors to this website will find many resources for the visually impaired. These include tips on how to create an "active learner space, lesson plans. Strategies for adaptive learning, email newsletters, and blogs written on various topics by students, parents, and professionals.

Teachers Pay Teachers

Teachers Pay Teachers describes itself as an “Online Marketplace for Original Educational Resources”. All content has been developed and offered by professional educators. Registration is free but required. This is a very comprehensive site which offers lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and projects. Results may be filtered by price, subject, and grade level. Homeschool-specific resources are also available.

Teaching Tolerance

Lesson plans for topics such as teaching diversity, self-care, how to deal with bullying, gender & ethnicity. Content is sortable by grade level, curriculum subject and social justice domain. This website provides guidance on teaching anti-bias, how to approach lessons on difficult and sensitive subjects, digital literacy and national teaching standards.

Teacher Tube

Teacher tube is comprised of a collection of 1000s of video and audio files created by and for educators. Videos are organized by subject: Science, Math, History, Social Studies, Language Arts & Educational Songs

Lessons Worth Sharing: TEDEd

Picture
In addition to the usual core subjects of Math, Science, History, Social Studies & Literature, the TEDEd website offers interesting, educational videos on such topics as: Thinking & Learning, Philosophy & Religion, and Design, Engineering & Technology. These videos range in length from thirty minutes to under five. They can also be sorted by student level or most questions answered by the presenter.

PBS Learning Media

This website offers content in the typical subject areas. Additionally, there are Pre-School development videos, Professional Enrichment videos for parents and educators, and World Language videos. There is also a section on flexible resources in support of new educational routines. These are sortable by grade level.

Duolingo

Picture
Duolingo is a language learning app that offer language lesson set up as game play. There are currently over 21 language available to choose from. Playing at the base level is free, although higher levels involve fees. Once subscribed, users have access to additional content such as progress quizzes and offline content. Spoken word examples by native speakers and conversation bots that allow students to practice speaking a language are nice features that make this app very appealing and user friendly.

Levar Burton Reads

This Podcast features Levar Burton reading a selection of short fiction in each episode. Some authors include: Neil Gaiman, Shirley Jackson, Octavia Butler, Haruki Murakami, Ray Bradbury, and many more.

Storyline

Storyline Online is an American Library Associated program supporting children's literacy.
Each streaming video features a story being read aloud by well known actors such as Betty White, Chris Pine, Oprah Winfrey, Wanda Sykes, Kevin Costner, Lily Tomlin, and many others.  Every story includes supplemental materials developed by professionally accredited educators.

UNH Cooperative Extension

The UNH Cooperative Extension provides resources and workshops on such topics as: 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture & Horticulture, Community & economic Development, Home, Yard & Garden. Natural Resources, Nutrition & Healthy Living, STEM Education, Citizen Science, and Youth & Family Resiliency.

 Homeschooling Groups

New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition

The NH Homeschooling Coalition website offers up-to-date information on legal statutes, how to get started homeschooling, and information on various homeschooling support groups. They also address how to manage switching from a public school environment to a homeschooling environment because of Covid19.

Coalition For Responsible Homeschooling

 Based in MA, this organization offers a class on how to begin the homeschooling experience. They have also provided a section specific to homeschooling during covid19. There is a fairly extensive archive of their newsletter, which chronicles various aspects of homeschooling advocacy. Topics include: educational neglect in the homeschooling environment, demographic studies, record keeping, and the role of volunteering in home education.

Granite State Home Educators

This is an organization run strictly through volunteer efforts. Their mission is to empower and support parents in their role as home educators. They provide information on standards, testing resources and proctoring services. GSHE have their own curated list of free educational websites. There is also a section about  support groups, both affiliated and unaffiliated, that may be accessed through Facebook.

Movement, Wellness & Physical Activity Resources

GoNoodle
Picture
Movement and mindfulness videos to encourage children's physical wellness, academic growth, and social-emotional health. Some videos are formatted as entertainment, others are more instructional. Spanish language content is available.
YMCA 360
Picture
This site offers YMCA-produced fitness videos, appropriate for older kids/young adults. Subjects include yoga, bootcamp, pilates, teen poetry & visual arts. They also have videos designated specifically for children’s activities. These include cooking and dance topics.

Cosmic Kids Yoga

Picture
This is a YouTube channel dedicated to yoga lessons for children. Episodes are themed and have brightly colored animations for backgrounds. Running time varies from three minutes to one hour, making this an adaptable resource for any schedule. Longer playlists are available.

Access Mars
Picture
Produced from NASA’s Curiosity rover footage, this is a 360 degree virtual reality experience of the surface of Mars. This includes satellite views and interactive content based on Curiosity's mission data.

Nature Lab

Picture
This website is full of nature & science curriculum and project ideas, organized by age range. Each video lesson comes with a downloadable teaching guide. There is also a step-by-step guide to building a school garden. There are some beautifully produced virtual field trips to locations such as Borneo, Colombia, Palau & Peru.

Google Arts & Culture

The Google Arts & Culture website has a variety of virtual tours & scavenger hunts set in the world’s most renowned art museums. Another feature is 360 degree tours of many of the world’s cultural sites, including the Colosseum in Rome, Angkor Wat in Thailand, and the Palace of Versailles. They also offer activities such as artwork-based I-spy, crosswords and coloring pages.

Children's Museum

The New Hampshire Children's Museum website offers a virtual tour of the museum. They have also put together many instructional and interactive videos for various age groups. Their nature videos complement the downloadable N.H. natural science and history curriculum. The NHCM has also curated Pinterest boards and a blog filled with topical activities and downloadable projects.

Monterey Bay
Aquarium

The aquarium has ten different live camera feeds in their various animal habitats. These are the coral reef, sea nettles, kelp forest, aviary, bay cam, moon jelly, open sea, penguin, sea otter, & shark feeds. They also have regularly scheduled narrated feeding times and  sea otter pups they've rescued.

NOAA National Marine Sanctuaries

In addition to lots of information about marine science and the relationships between sanctuaries and their local communities, NOAA has also created a series of virtual dives and downloadable lessons to accompany them. Another nice resource is the collection of educational videos from marine sanctuaries around the United States.

Son Doong Cave, Vietnam

Created by National Geographic, this is a virtual tour of the world's largest cave system: Son Doong Cave, Vietnam. The photography is high resolution to allow users to zoom in to see fine details. There are ambient noise recordings to accompany the self-paced tour and new species of cave-dwelling animals are still being discovered.

Stellarium Web

Picture
Stellarium is a website that allows you to view the stars, planets and constellations in real time. There is a downloadable app available that uses the GPS from your phone to show you what objects are visible to you in the night sky in your local area. They also have a night vision feature that turns the display red so that it does not interfere with your ability to see the stars. Users can also start a daily star log for more long-term viewing projects.

Museum of the World

This is a movable timeline of history created by the British Museum. The timeline spans from 2,000,000 BC to the present. Visitors can click on any event on the timeline and view articles, pictures, and audio files associated with various artifacts from human history.  One can choose to view separate timelines of  Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, or Oceana.
Categories of artifacts include:
Art & Design, Living & Dying, Power & Identity, Religion & Belief, & Trade & Conflict.


Arts and Music Resources

Classics for Kids

Picture
Classics for Kids mission is to introduce children to classical music. They offer many free resources for reading music, learning about orchestral instruments, time signatures and musical terms. Lessons on composers may be sorted alphabetically, by country, as an interactive timeline, female composers, or choral composers. They have a lengthy archive of podcasts, games and activities to support music education.

Education Through Music

Education Through Music is a non-profit established in the early 1990s to provide access to quality music education for underfunded schools. This mission continues through the creation of an extensive library of YouTube videos. Lessons include: Making Instruments From Household Items, Music History, Sing-a-Longs, and Using Online Software to Make Music.

DC Arts and Humanities
Education Collaborative

This website offers a large database of  educational content and lessons in Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Humanities. They are organized by grade level, from Early Childhood through High School. The DC Collaborative has also made a helpful Professional Development page containing information and tips on teaching these lessons through an online environment.
